Organizer Boot Camp

Joliet Steward, Nicole McMahon; Care Center Steward, Melissa Bacon; Clerical Business Rep, Lisa Sims and University Park Steward, DeJuon Battles-Newby; Attended the IBEW's 6th District Organizer Boot Camp held at the University of Wisconsin School for Workers in Madison Wisconsin last month where they spent a week learning the complexities of Organizing for a Union.  They attended classes including Basic Labor Law for Organizers and Effective Communication Skills. They also learned about Neutrality Agreements, Sales Techniques, Planning Organizing Campaigns as well as Top-Down and Bottom-Up Organizing. By the end of the week, they had learned enough and had developed enough skills to create a strategic organizing plan.
