IBEW Local 15 Dresden Employees Credited with Using AED to Save a Life

Quick-thinking Dresden Station employees are credited with saving the life of a co-worker after using an automated external defibrillator (AED) on an individual who collapsed in the station’s Electrical Maintenance department Nov. 1 during the site’s refueling outage.

The supplemental worker sustained a head injury during the event. Employees jumped into action to stop the bleeding and used CPR until the AED could be retrieved.  “The AED was used and brought the worker back to life after no pulse was detected,” said Dresden Safety Advisor Brian Paisker. “Workers did not hesitate to provide life-saving measures. They jumped into action and used their training in first aid, CPR and AED to save this worker’s life.” Site Nurse Madelyn Rogge provided care until the Coal City Fire Department responded, transporting the worker to Morris Hospital.

Right place. Right people.”
