2025 Local 15 Scholarship Winners

IBEW Local 15 President/Business Manager Chris Riser is pleased to announce the winners of the 17th Annual IBEW Local 15 Scholarship Award.  Ten $1,000 Scholarships were awarded, one scholarship awarded as "The Billy Phillips Scholarship", after our late Vice-President, Billy Phillips.

Thank you to all the Local 15 Members, spouses or domestic partners, and their dependents who applied for the scholarship.

Christian Smith

The son of Ebonee Smith, a Construction Order Clerk at the Elgin headquarters, Christian is in the midst of acquiring his degree in psychology at Howard University.

Gwyneth Cato

Gwyneth will be working towards a bachelor’s degree in counseling and personal pare at Ozark Christian College.  She is the daughter of Samuel Cato, Nuclear Station Operator at LaSalle Station.

Christian Curtis

Christian is the son of Christopher Curtis, a Crew Leader out of University Park.  He will be attending the University of Illinois at Chicago in pursuit of a degree in communications.

Analise Fajardo

Nery Fajardo, Nuclear Station Operator at Dresden Station, is the father of Analise Fajardo.  Analise is pursuing her bachelor’s degree at the University of Illinois Urbana – Champaign.

Arianna Araujo

Arianna will be attending Louisiana Tech University, where she will receive a degree in biology – premed.  Her father is Antonio Araujo, Electrical Mechanic out of Crestwood.

Cameron Escatel

Cameron is the son of Isidro Escatel, Lead Valve Welder Technician at LaSalle Station.  He will be attending Illinois Valley Community College, working towards a degree in Industrial Maintenance.

Isabel Chavez

Isabel is attending Purdue University and will continue working towards her degree in Political Science.  Her father, Hector Chavez, is a TUG Cable Splicer out of Chicago West Tech.

CJ Frey

CJ will be going to Illinois State University where she will work towards her degree in nursing.  She is the daughter of Joey Frey, an Area Operator out of Dixon.

Cedric Urek

Cedric is the son of Benjamin Urek, Nuclear Station Operator at the Quad Cities station.  He will be attending Augustana enroute towards a bachelor’s degree in math education.

Wei Liu

Wei will be continuing her education at Roosevelt University in Chicago, working towards a degree in accounting.  Her husband, Brian Wickman, is a Customer Service Representative at Lincoln Centre.
